Plot Summary
The movie revolves around Tukaram Marathe (Shreyas Talpade), a farmer from Maharashtra, who arrives in Agra with his wife Sundari (Manjari Fadnis) and daughter. He declares that the land on which the Taj Mahal stands belongs to his ancestors and he wants it back. He starts a hunger strike on the banks of the Yamuna river and attracts media attention. The government sends the jail minister Visarjan Yadav (Hemant Pandey) to deal with him, but he fails to convince him to end his protest. The case goes to court, where Tukaram presents letters from Emperors Humayun and Akbar as proof of his claim. The letters are verified to be authentic and Tukaram demands that the Taj Mahal be closed for tourists until the matter is resolved.
The government agrees to give Tukaram a piece of land elsewhere in the country for farming, but he randomly selects a land that belongs to a powerful industrialist, who is not willing to give it up. The industrialist hires a killer to eliminate Tukaram, but he survives the attack. Tukaram then reveals that he is actually an undercover agent who was sent by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to expose a scam involving the sale of fake antiques. He says that the letters were planted by him as part of his mission and that he has no real claim on the Taj Mahal. He apologizes to the public for his deception and praises the beauty and heritage of the Taj Mahal.
